Lita Marie Wilbanks Bennett, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, and nana passed away peacefully at her home in Kingston on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the age of 70.
Lita was born in Cartersville on August 27, 1955, and was a 1973 graduate of Cartersville High School. She was saved and baptized in her early teens. Sundays at Remnant Church in Adairsville and dinner afterwards with her family was her favorite. Her grandbabies brought her the most joy and laughter. Lita faced many battles in her later years, but her faith and His strength carried her through. Her love for the Lord was evident to all those around her.
Lita was proceeded in death by her parents W.C. “ Seba” and Juanita Wilbanks, whose memory she held dear throughout her life. And, also, father-in-law, Marcus “Mark” Bennett; brother-in-laws, Donald Dover and Tony Blalock; nephew, Robert Lowery; special cousin, Sherry Grizzle.
Surviving to cherish Lita’s memory are her husband, Marcus E. “Gene” Bennett, of 53 years; daughters, Megan Bennett Hazelwood & Scooter Hazelwood and Amber Bennett; Grandchildren, Alainey Bennett Vandenbos & Tyler Vandenbos, Preston Hazelwood, Landon Wood (Brenda West), Cassidy Dupree (Jaxson Beard), Brylee Dupree, and Jacey Dupree; special cousins, Norris & Linda Westbrooks, Betty Dean, Shelby Cornwell, and Jerry & Adele Bell; mother-in-law, Wilma Bennett; sister & brother-in-laws, Linda Dover, Sybil & Roger Burns, Theresa Blalock, Tab Hester, Barry & Kim Bennett; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Lita will be lovingly carried to her final resting place by pallbearers: Son-in-law, Scooter Hazelwood, and grandchildren, Alainey Bennett Vandenbos, Tyler Vandenbos, Preston Hazelwood, Landon Wood, Cassidy Dupree, Brylee Dupree, and Jacey Dupree.
A visitation will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home in Cartersville on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from noon to 1:30 pm. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Andrew Hight officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville.
Arrangements are entrusted to Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Lita will be deeply missed but leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be treasured and carried on by all who knew her.
