Mr. Lloyd Cleveland �Cleve� Burton, age 63, of Rome, GA died suddenly Thursday, June 24, 2010 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Burton was born in Rome, GA on February 11, 1947 the son of the late Joseph T. Burton (Charter Member of the Georgia State Patrol) and Burnita Brown Burton. Mr. Burton was a practicing attorney for over 21 years currently at Burton Law Firm, LLC.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-seven years, Terri Brown of Rome, GA; son Keenan Burton of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Daphne Brown of Rome, GA; brother, Michael Burton of Rome, GA; sisters, Bitsy Burton of Riverdale, GA and Nina Berg of San Francisco, CA. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at West Rome Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Norris officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church at 1:30 P.M.: Patrick Berg, Michael Bryan, Stacy Washington, Larry Beam, Rick Cromartie and Bob Doster.
On Sunday Mr. Burton will be placed in the church to lie in state from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the 100 Black Men of Rome, 2204 Shorter Avenue, Suite 10 PMB-224, Rome, GA. 30165.
