Lois Thomas Brock, 83, of Cartersville went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 24, 2009 after a lengthy illness. A native of Bartow County, she was born October 24, 1926 and was the daughter of the late William Howard Thomas and the late Mary Etta Edwards Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Brock; her sister, Ruth Coker; and her brothers, Raymond Thomas and John L. Thomas.
Lois was a loving, Christian wife of 64 years, a loving mother, a loving grandmother, and a loving great-grandmother, and she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Lois was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and was active in the Ladies Circle. She was also a member of the Bartow County Senior Center and was a Red Cross Volunteer.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence M. Brock, Sr. of Cartersville; her children and their spouses, Wanda and Danny Chatman, Kathy and Frank McGill, Lynne and Ronnie Brock, Sandy Evans, and Clarence Brock, Jr. and wife, Carla, all of Cartersville; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2009 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Baker, Rev. Forrest Leachman, and Rev. Earl Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Lois' grandsons will serve as pallbearers and will be Rev. Forrest Leachman, Chad McGill, Jeffrey Chatman, Steven Chatman, Britt McGill, Colby Evans, and Matthew Brock. Lois' granddaughters and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 12 Noon until 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, GA 30120.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Doctor�s Hospice, especially her caregivers, Tonya Colston and nurse Laura Vandermeyden.
