Lois Wigley

Mrs. Lois Williams Wigley, age 93, resident of 963 Wilkerson Road for over fifty years, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008.



Mrs. Wigley was born in Colquitt County, GA, on January 2, 1915, the daughter of the late William Henry Williams and Nora Mae Heath Williams. She was a homemaker and a resident of Floyd County and the Alto Park Community most of her life. Mrs. Wigley was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and The Church Sunday School and Training Union was started in her home in 1942. She was a member of the eighty and up Sunday School Class and the Joymakers. Mrs. Wigley was a member of the Neighborly Home Demonstration Club for many years. She had a passion for her flower garden where she spent many hours. Also, was an accomplished ceramics maker and enjoyed handcrafts. In addition to her parents Mrs. Wigley was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lee Wigley on October 17, 2001 and by a son, Jerry Lee Wigley on July 29, 1993.



Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William V. �Bill� Wigley and Betty C. Wigley of Rome; a daughter, Karen Nan Wigley of Rome; a daughter-in-law, Dell Wigley of Calhoun, GA; a sister-in-law, Ester Wigley of Bryan, TX; two brothers-in-law, Calvin Wigley of Marietta, GA and Alvin Wigley of Carrollton, GA; seven grandchildren, Scott Wigley, Jeff Wigley and his wife, Terri, Dwayne Wigley, Pam Stalnaker and her husband, Steve, Tracy Morgan and her husband, Jeff, Joel Wigley, and Josh Wigley; four great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and two nieces, Judy Young and her husband, Robert and Linda Turner and her husband, Mike all of Marietta, GA.



Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23, 2008, at 2:00 PM in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Skelton and Dr. Dale Levan officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends Thursday from noon until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Funeral Home or at other hours may be contacted at 959 Wilkerson Road.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel by 1:30 P.M. on Thursday: Hulyn Kight, Bernard Marshall, Robert Weaver, Charles Duke, Tom Medlock, and Loray Byars. The honorary pallbearers will be members of the Eighty and Up Sunday School Class and the Joymakers.



Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Renovation Fund of Fellowship Baptist Church, 314 Burnett Ferry Road, Rome, GA 30165.
