Mr. Lona Adam Gregory, 90, of 501 Douglas Street, Cartersville passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at his residence. Born September 5, 1916 in Franklin, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Charlie and Laveania Vaughn Gregory. Mr. Gregory was a retired lab technician with Thompson Weinman and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He moved to Cartersville after his discharge from the service in 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents, 13 brothers and sisters, and a grandchild.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Gregory of Cartersville; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Carolyn Gregory of Cartersville; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kitty and Ronnie Harris of Cartersville and Martha and Charlie Lockridge of Euharlee; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Harley Gayton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with full military honors provided by American Legion Carl Boyd Post #42. Serving as pallbearers will be: Randall Vaughn, Clayton Vaughn, Glandon Vaughn, Ronnie Gregory, Darryl Ayers, and Alex Floyd. These gentlemen are requested to be at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Thursday.
