Mr. Lonnie T. Barker, age 68, of 1655 Morrison Campground Road, Rome, GA, died Sunday morning, June 27, 2004, in a local hospital.Mr. Barker was born in Chattooga County, GA, on June 10, 1936, the son of the late Alonzo and Addie Fowler Barker. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of his life and was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Prior to retirement in 2001 Mr. Barker was associated with the Floyd County Public Works. He was a member and past secretary of the East Floyd Masonic Lodge #728 F&AM, Worthy Patron of the East Floyd Chapter #501 Order of the Eastern Star and was Past District Grand Deputy of Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Barker was also a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple, the Rome Shrine Club, a member of the Hillbilly Clan, Past President of the Rome Shrine Club Hillbilly Unit, and was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Barker, and two sisters, Juanita and Helen Barker.Mr. Barker is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marcell and Jeff Rampley of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pam Barker of Lafayette, GA; four grandchildren, Matthew Barker, Devin Barker, Mallory Rampley and Morgan Rampley; two sisters, Evelyn Montgomery of Cave Spring, GA, and Frances Worthington of Dykes Creek; one brother, William Barker of Dykes Creek. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mr. Barker will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Adams and Rev. Steve Skates officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The East Floyd Masonic Lodge #728 F&AM will be in charge of Masonic graveside rites.Mr. Barker will lie in-state at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 6 until 8 p.m.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 2:30 p.m. and include Matthew Barker, Devin Barker, Albert Nelson, Larry Mormon, David Montgomery, Ed Johnson, Jason Barker and Lamar Turner.
