Louise Honaker

Louise H. Honaker, age 88, of St. Petersburg, FL peacefully passed away early Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 4:00 a.m.



Mrs. Honaker was born on May 1, 1922. Louise had lived most of her life in Rome and prior to 1990 had lived in Seminole, FL but returned to Rome following the death of her husband, Robert L. Honaker, Sr. She returned to Florida following declining health to be closer to her son. Mrs. Honaker was retired from the Rome City School System. She was a longtime member of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church, where she had been a Children's Sunday School lead; member and past-president of the Senior Adults Ray Club and a part-time receptionist and volunteering in the church office. Mrs. Honaker taught Sunday School at the Winthrop West Assisted Living Center and volunteered at Golden Care Home for the Thursday evening Bible study. Louise enjoyed baseball and football, she was a season ticket holder for the Rome Braves from 2003 thru 2006, attending the games with her friends Betty Carter and Bernice Swann.



Survivors include her son, Robert L. Honaker, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren Lou Honaker and Kim Tucker of Alabama; two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.



Funeral services will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. Clarence Drummond and Dr. Wm. Richard Kremer officiating. Interment in Sunset Memory Gardens beside her late husband.



The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
