June 25, 1917 — December 8, 2015
Mrs. Louise Pratt Hood of Cartersville passed away Tuesday, December 8th peacefully at her home at the age of 98. Louise went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family. Born in Kingston, GA on June 25, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Pratt and Fannie Mae Holcombe. Louise came into the world with her beloved identical twin sister Eloise.
She grew up in Kingston with her six brothers and sisters. There she met her husband, Earl McCourt Hood and they continued to raise their four boys there until they moved to Cartersville when their youngest son was in high school.
She and her late husband Earl were lifelong Baptist and she was most recently a member of Heritage Baptist Church where she loved attending Sunday school and her close relationships with her church family. She was an avid bridge player and was well known for her love of entertaining friends and family in her festively decorated home.
She is preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years and her sons Earl Jr., Phillip, Melvyn and Joel Hood and all of her siblings with exception of her twin sister.
Louise is survived by her sister Eloise Richardson and her husband Lt. Colonel Bill Richardson of Port Charlotte, FL.; her four grandchildren Michael Hood, Kevin Hood, Sarah Alice Hood and Alexander Hood; her five great grandchildren Alyssa, Kristen and Destin Hood and Jacob and Olivia Brown; along with numerous nieces and nephews including Ellen Peszko and her husband David, Charlotte Bray and "Little" Joe Pratt who all became a great comfort to her after the loss of her own children.
She and her family were very grateful to her devoted friends, fellow church members and tender hearted caregivers who helped her maintain her independent spirit and social nature up until her death.
A service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church on Friday, December 11th at 11 am followed by a luncheon in her honor in the fellowship hall. A graveside service will follow in Kingston Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday, December 10th from 5-7 pm.
