Lucille Mcdonald

Mrs. Lucille P. McDonald, age 78, of 617 Elliott Drive, Rome, GA, died Thursday morning, October 27, 2005, at her residence.Mrs. McDonald was born on September 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Verlon "Burl" and Lenice Little Poteet. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since the fall of 1954, moving here from Murphy, NC. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church where, in earlier years, she had taught Sunday School in the Pre-school Department. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed collecting bells and African violets. Mrs. McDonald loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed helping others and will be remembered as a lady who "found good in everyone". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Poteet.Mrs. McDonald is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Newell McDonald, to whom she was married on April 30, 1948; one daughter, Lenice "Nece" McDonald of Rome; two grandchildren, Joseph Guy Naugher, Sr. and Joshua Robert Brayton; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Guy "Joey" Naugher, Jr. and Adam Matthew "Matt" Naugher; three sisters, Lona Cordell of Dallas, GA, Carmelita Holtzclaw of Fayetteville, GA, and Maggie Abernathy of Murphy, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. McDonald will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Dr. Drew Corbett officiating.Mrs. McDonald will lie in-state in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 7 until 9 p.m.Grandsons and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.Please join Mrs. McDonald's family in honoring her life by visiting www.jenningsfuneralhome.com to share memories.
