Lucy Abney

Sunday, August 22, 2021, Lucy Carol Abney most lovingly known as Aunt Lucy passed away at the age of 53.

Lucy was born on March 4, 1968 in LaFayette, Georgia. Lucy had a passion for children and baking. She taught special education and volunteered in the Shine ministry with special needs children at her church. When she was not teaching, you could most always find her spending time with her pride and joy in life- her nieces and nephews. From ballgames to dance recitals, to choir concerts or talent shows, Lucy was there. Her other passion was baking, especially birthday cakes for family. She loved her family and making others smile with homemade goodies.

Lucy was preceded in death by her mother, Rozanne Abney. She is survived by her father, Denny Abney and siblings: Pat Abney (Kristi), Noelle Johnson (Andy), and Bo Abney (Sharon). Also by her nieces and nephews: Connor Johnson, Cooper Abney, Kaylee Johnson, Drew Abney, Wynn Abney, Grace Abney, Madison Abney, Payton Abney, and Evelyn Abney.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 27th at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church Chapel in Marietta, Ga. at 11:00a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations to be made to the Shine ministry at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Lucy's honor.
