Mrs. Lula C. Brownlow, of 7110 Baker Road, Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Rome, GA died Tuesday evening in Murfreesboro, TN.
Mrs. Brownlow was born in Jackson County, Alabama on August 31, 1920, the daughter of the late Ernest Carson and Carrie Sargent Carson. She lived all of her life in Rome and Floyd County until 2005. Mrs. Brownlow worked a number of years as a caregiver at local nursing homes, leaving to take care of family members when their health was failing. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Brownlow, February 10, 2000, by one brother, Willard Carson and a sister, Margie Carson Brownlow.
Survivors include two nephews; Clinton R. (Marilyn) Brownlow of Murfreesboro, TN and Curtis Brownlow of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brownlow will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Rayford Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel this evening (Friday) from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family request the donations be made to the local hospice or to Hospice of Murfreesboro, 625 South Church Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130. Also the family expresses special thanks for the compassionate and loving care by Judy Rugieri, Debby Parker and Judy Black.
The following nephews and great-nephews are asked to serve as pallbearers; Jerry Brownlow, Dale Brownlow, Veron Early, Wendell Early, Hugh Early, Dominic Brownlow, Derwin Brownlow and Rusty Brownlow.
