Lula T. Long, 78, of Cartersville passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born August 8, 1928, she was a lifelong resident of Bartow County and was the daughter of the late Homer Blackmon and the late Mary Mae Sligh Blackmon. Lula was a homemaker and was of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles Dover; her brothers, Clifford Blackmon, Clarence Blackmon and Charles "Sonny" Blackmon; her sister, Clara Smith; her sons, Jackie Dover and Marvin Dover; her daughter, Mary Riseden; and her grandson, Andy Riseden.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Long of Cartersville; her daughters, Brenda Hinesley of Aragon and Virginia Channell of Cartersville; her sons, Charles Dover, James Dover and Teddy Dover, all of Cartersville; her brother, David Blackmon of Cartersville; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. I.L. Smith and Rev. Doyle Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery of Cartersville. Grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers.
