Luther Goodwin

August 30, 1927 — April 18, 2010

Luther �Red� Goodwin, 82, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his residence. Born August 30, 1927 in Coffee County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James Clarance Goodwin and the late Ruby Iris Mills Goodwin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of thirty-five years and the mother of seven of his children, Rosa Lee Goodwin; his second wife, Norma Payne Goodwin; his son-in-law, Calvin Haney; and seven brothers and sisters.



Red was employed as a truck driver for fifty-three years until the time of his retirement. He worked his entire career without an accident. Red was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church. His family will remember him for being a loving father, grandfather, and a great friend.



Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Alton Bo and Shelia Goodwin of Jasper and Jack and Nancy Goodwin of Alpharetta; his daughters and sons-in-law, Iris and Bobby Dooley of Cumming, Anita and Robert Dooley of Dahlonega, Lois and Ronnie Bruce of Carnesville, Cheryl Haney of Cartersville, and Marcia and Robert Hopkins of Temple; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at New Home Baptist Church in Woodstock with the Rev. Thomas Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Monday and all day Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
