The Reverend Luther King, 83, of Cartersville, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Townsend Park Nursing Home.
Born October 4, 1929 in Newton County, he was a son of the late Silas King and the late Jessie Mae Lackey King. Reverend King was a member of The Church at Liberty Square and was retired from Goodyear and Ingles. He served as a minister for over 25 years at local area nursing homes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lyman King and Bill King; sister, Carrie Mae Jones; and a granddaughter, Christy King.
Survivors include his wife, Retta Andrews King; son, Mickey King and his wife Dale of Cartersville; brother, Joe King and his wife JoAnn; sisters, Viola Pace and Dot Vick; grandchildren, Rhonda Collum and her husband Bradley, and Terryl Abernathy and her husband Teddy; great-grandchildren, Twyla Miller and her husband Jason, and Tayler Hite; great-great-grandchildren, Kason Miller and Kenli Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. Joe E. Edwards and The Reverend Marlon Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
