Mack Ray, Sr.

Mr. Mack Arthur Ray, Sr., age 61, of 61 Clements Road, Rome, GA, died Sunday, December 18, 2005, following a sudden attack.Mr. Ray was born in Bartow County, GA, on April 6, 1944, the son of the late Alton and Viola Wilson Ray. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of his life and was of the Baptist faith. At the time of his death Mr. Ray was associated with Life Like Products and had been a textile worker for several years. He enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers, going to flea markets and yard sales, and enjoyed country music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Ray, in 1995.Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Patricia Henson Ray, to whom he was married on July 7, 1964; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Billy Hilburn of Calhoun, GA, Tina Ray, and Joy and Chuck Osley, all of Rome; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mack Arthur Ray, Jr., Michael and Mary Ray, and Bobby Ray, all of Rome; eight grandchildren; six sisters, Imogene Holcomb, Rhonda Childers, Cathy Cantrell, Bobbie Foreman, Patches Roberson and Donna Tackett; two brothers, Timmy Ray and Bradley Ray. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mr. Ray will be held on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Woffords Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery in White, GA.Mr. Ray will lay in-state in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 10:30 a.m. and include Mack Arthur Ray, Jr., Michael Ray, Bobby Ray, Charles Smith and Bradley Jordan.
