Mae Howell

Mrs. W. Mae Brooks Howell, 85, of Cartersville passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Heartland Hospice House. Born September 11, 1922 in Jefferson City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. Brooks and the late Bessie Eaves Brooks King. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Howell, and her sister, Jewell Brooks.

Mrs. Howell had been employed by E-Z Mills and retired from Union Carbide. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Howell was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister and was loved by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Brooke and Ron Martin of Cartersville and Rebecca Sapp of Savannah; her grandchildren, Rhonda and Alan Davette of Cartersville, Robbie and Jerry Whitener of Cartersville, Rachel Martin of Los Angeles, California, and Michael Frank and Daneane Sapp of Pembroke; her great-grandchildren, Hope, Colby and Chae Singleton, Bryson Davette, Brooklyn Whitener, and Kendall, Kaitlyn and Matthew Sapp; her brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Yvonne King of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. William Cline officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Chartier, C.L. Williams, Colby Singleton, Frank Sapp, Jerry Whitener, and Alan Davette. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to be at the funeral home by 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The family suggests that those who wish may send flowers, or memorial contributions may be made to Advocates for Children, PO Box 446, Cartesville, GA 30120.
