Malcolm Coney Garrett, 80, of Cartersville, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born November 13, 1928, in Polk County, he was the son of the late Richard Garrett and the late Estelle Wiley Garrett. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Garner; his brothers, Richard Garrett and Forrest Garrett and a special nephew Bud Garrett.
Mr. Garrett served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was later employed by Thompson Weiman and was a member of Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church. Malcolm was known for his pleasant personality and his love of animals.
Survivors include his sisters, Lois Williams, of Cartersville, Elsie Tomkowiak, of Cartersville and Lottie Brand, of Rome; his sister-in-law, Frances Garrett, of Cartersville; several nieces and nephews; two special nephews, Ernie Garrett and Danny Garrett; and his great-niece, Kellie Garrett.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Connesena Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 � 7 p.m. and again on Monday from 5 � 9 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
