Marcia Lester

On March 2, 2022, with her loving wife at her side, Marcia Lurlene Lester, age 69, of Taylorsville, GA, bravely and peacefully received her angel wings.

Marcia was born on April 9, 1952, in Decatur, Georgia, to the late James and Willette Lester. She is also preceded in death by a very special aunt, Frances Rakestraw.

Marcia touched many lives while teaching physical education at Emerson & Taylorsville Elementary Schools for a combined 39 years. She enjoyed "playing in the dirt" and was so excited to become a master gardener.
Her other passion was volunteering with Relay for Life of Paulding County. She was also an active member of Hiram First United Methodist Church for much of her life.

Marcia is survived by her loving and devoted wife of 16 years, Linda Ann Vernon-Lester, her mother and father-in-law, Bobby & Trudie Vernon, her siblings; Keith Lester (Donna), Kevin Lester (Vicki, who was like a sister to Marcia), Kenny Lester (Sherri), and Connie Vinson, her nieces and nephews; Teresa Wiley (Terry), James Lester, Monica Lester, Adam Lester (Janessa), Matthew Lester (Kabrina), Kimberly Vinson, and Jesse Vinson (Stacey Page), as well as several great nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by four very great friends: Joyce Hudson, Jan Phillips, Becky Shiflett, and Sandy Smallwood.

A memorial service will be held for Marcia on Saturday, March 12, at 3:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m.
