Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Alexander, 77, formerly of White, widow of the late Thomas Earl Alexander, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the home of her granddaughter in Resaca.
Born May 13, 1937 in Cartersville, she was a daughter of the late Frank O'Neal Howren and the late Alma Chloe Kelley Howren. Mrs. Alexander was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an avid reader. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Worthington; sisters, Betty Amos and Faye Gee; and brothers, Aubrey Howren and Ray Howren.
Survivors include her daughter, Deidre Schmick of Cartersville; sisters, Virginia Hobgood and her husband Royce of Fairmount, and Wanda Hornbuckle and her husband Dale of Cartersville; brother, Jerry Howren and his wife Bertie of Cartersville; grandchildren, Corey Worthington of Cartersville, Brandy Newport and her husband Chris of Resaca, Haley Schmick of Miami, Courtney Schmick of Emerson, and Amber Schmick of Gwinnett; 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Michael Keane officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
