Mrs. Margaret Evans Rice, 94, of Acworth, died peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2014 at her daughter's residence in Mentone, Alabama. Born in Bartow County, July 11, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Vince Evans and Martha Clyde Chitwood Evans.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Avery "Snag" Rice; two sisters; and seven brothers. Mrs. Rice was a very loving person and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed sewing, helping others and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Cordelia Dee Bell of Mentone, her grandchildren, Lynne Tew of Acworth, Margaret Gilbert of Dallas and Tim Bell of Riverview, Florida; her step-grandchildren, Vicki Hawk of Virginia, Joy Watts of Macon, Jobie Stephens of Warner Robbins and Freeman Bell of Roswell, New Mexico; seventeen great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Terry Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Tim Bell, Aaron Tew, Steven Thompson, Billy Briscoe, Randy Gilbert, Ronnie Gilbert and Rickey Waters. Donald Hedden and Freddie Huggins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
