Margaret Simpson

September 21, 1919 — December 27, 2009

Margaret Fowler Simpson, 90, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born five miles west of Adairsville on September 21, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Pauline Fowler and the late Clarence Fowler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Andrew Simpson; her son, Wayne Simpson; and her grandson, Eddie Simpson.



Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and �family builder� and was known as �Mammaw� to her family. Mammaw�s mother died when she was 7 years old, and she was raised by her grandparents, Posey and Mattie Rogers Fowler. She grew up at Crowe Springs Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at 11 years old. Mammaw also attended Rowland Springs Baptist Church during her adult life.



Survivors include her children and their spouses, Janette and Terry Mundy, Ronnie and Edna Simpson, Joyce and Billy Duck, Brenda and Bill Melton, and Linda and Charles McFarland; her grandchildren, Johnny Jenkins, Judy and Lamar Johnson, Terry Lee Mundy, Jr., Marty and Christy Simpson, Lori and Adam Hight, Gene and Toni Duck, Janet Duck and John Shinall, Teresa Quarles, Bobby Duck, Bill and Malissa Melton, Chris and Kimberly Melton, Jessica Melton Newberry, Shorty and Lesa Shuler, Timmy and Jennifer Shuler, Cindy and Daniel Avallone, and Michael and Ivy McFarland; her great-grandchildren, Amanda Jenkins, Jacob Simpson, Grace Simpson, Drew Simpson, Andrew Buttram, Ansley Hight, Blake and Becky Duck, Tonnie and Wesley Lingerfelt, Ashlea Quarles, Cody Melton, Hope Melton, Misty Melton, Christy Melton, Bryan Wood, Bryson Cole Melton, Ethan Newberry, Tiffany Shuler, Tyler Shuler, Joseph Avallone, and Mia Sara McFarland; her great-great-grandchildren, Josh Jenkins, Drew Hammonds, Kayla Duck, and Gracie Lingerfelt; her nephews, Bill Fowler and Jimmy Simpson; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members; and many other children that �Mammaw� helped raise, took care of, and loved as if they were her own.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Jack Kennington officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.



Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Melton, Jr., Timmy Shuler, Michael McFarland, Chris Melton, Gene Duck, Marty Simpson, and Terry Lee Mundy, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Jenkins, Shorty Shuler, Cody Melton, and Blake Duck.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
