Margie Givens

Margie Givens, 80, of Emerson passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Cartersville Medical Center.

Born on June 10, 1939 in Cartersville she was the daughter of the late Raymond Evans and the late Ruby Walraven Evans. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Givens; her siblings, Annie Jo Wilson, Charles Evans, McRay Evans, and Ernest Evans; and her daughter-in-law, Doris Givens.

Margie was also affectionately known as "Sweet Pea" by her husband Gene, the nickname "Clyde" by her siblings, Millie and Miller, and "Mother" by many and especially her grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a member of Emerson Baptist Church. She loved attending Sunday School, singing in the choir and seeing all of her special girlfriends at church. Her faith in God was solid, and she loved and believed in her family deeply.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Steve) Laird; her sons, David (Janet) Givens, Darrell Givens (fiancé Christina Thumma), and Dwayne (Jennifer) Givens; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her siblings, Roy Evans & Faye, James (Christa) Evans, Miller (Linda Gayle) Evans, Millie (Al) Pallone; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Chris Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Givens, Darrell Givens, Dwayne Givens, Steve Laird, Jason Laird, and Caleb Givens.
