Mrs. Marjorie (Margie) Marvene Dillard Lusk, 86, of Cartersville passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011. Mrs. Lusk was born on September 29, 1924 in Emerson, Georgia; the daughter of the late Luke Dillard and Tilla Irene Dillard. A fine Christian woman, she was a long time active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of the Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class. Mrs. Lusk was retired from Shaw Industries after fifty years of service in the carpet industry.
Mrs. Lusk was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a woman of character with a giving and caring heart. A Lifetime member of the Eastern Star, she was recognized for fifty years of dedicated service through the Cartersville chapter. She loved sports and in her younger days she was a member of the E-Z Mills Semi Pro Basketball team. Graduating from Acworth High School in 1942, Mrs. Lusk was team captain of her basketball team and lead them to a state championship. Also an avid bowler, she was a member of the Builders Supply Women�s Bowling Team during the seventies. Base ball was also one of her major interests and many knew of her love for her Atlanta Braves. Always active, Mrs. Lusk enjoyed crochet and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Lusk lived her faith. Her love and respect for others extended to those less fortunate. For several years, Mrs. Lusk served as a foster parent for children in need. She lived her life to the fullest never hesitating to help others.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Dillard, and sisters, Annabelle Holmes and Will Nell Blevins.
Survivors include her son, Ron Lusk and his wife Sandy, of Cartersville; her daughter Becky Lusk Mimna and her husband Robbie of Cartersville; grandchildren, Kerri Lusk Whittenburg and her husband Jack and Kyle Lusk of Cartersville; great-grandchildren Lindsey Whittenburg, Keane Whittenburg, Grayson Lusk and Taylor Lusk; her brother in law Bill Blevins, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 1:00 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Reverend Richard Brown officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are pallbearers are Max Benefield, Robert Holmes, Jim Holmes, Larry Dillard, David Dillard, Jack Whittenburg, and Robbie Mimna. These gentlemen are asked to be at the church by 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
