Marie Dunaway

Mrs. Marie Greenway Dunaway, 89, of White, Georgia, left us while sleeping peacefully June 7, 2023 at brighter Mornings Assisted Living in Maysville, Georgia.

Born November 13, 1933 in Cartersville Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Bethel and Agnes Chambers Greenway.

Marie was the happiest when cooking for and spending time with her loving family. She was also a member of Atco Baptist Church and enjoyed her church friends. He life was a living example of the Bible verse Ephesians 4:32 "And be Kind and compassionate to one another forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."

Marie, in addition to her parents, is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George W. Dunaway Sr.; her daughter, Glenda Moore; son-in-law, Garry Moore; brother-in-law Everett (Fuzz) Cornett; and life partner of her son, Sheri Coley.

Marie is survived by her daughter Janis Mathis and husband Charles; son, George W. Dunaway Jr. (Joe); sister, Sue Cornett; brother, John (Pat) Greenway; grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Wilson, Douglas (Kristen) Mathis, Heather (Brian) Cook, and Hunter (Chelsey) Moore; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Cole, and Gracie Wilson, Jacob and Kendall Mathis, Emberly Moore and her many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Marie worked for Sears as an accounting supervisor. She retired in 1982 to devote her time and energy to be a caregiver to her husband until his passing in 2016.

A very special thank you to Whitney Medders and Stacy Orta. They were her caregivers that took such great care of Marie, her family will never forget their kindness. Thank you to all the staff at Brighter Mornings for the care they gave Marie, especially in the last days of her life.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 15, 2023 between 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home located in Cartersville, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on June 16, 2023 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank everyone for your love, support, and prayers.

Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas Mathis, Jason Vaughn, Michael Wilson, Brian Gilmer, Cole Wilson, and Jacob Mathis.
