Marilyn Stephens

Marilyn Ingram Minter Stephens, age 75, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2013 at her residence in Cartersville after celebrating Mother's Day with her children and grandchildren.

Marilyn was born December 27, 1937, in Cobb County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Fred and Pearl Rich Ingram. She graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1955 and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, where she served in the Music Ministry for over sixty years. She played the piano for the Cartersville Church for seven years and served in many church positions with both her husband's ministering in Canton, Hickory Flat, Rome, Calhoun, and Lindale, GA as Pastors. After working at Sinclair and Fair Oaks Paint and Hardware, she completed her career employed by Lockheed-Martin, retiring in 1995 with over 30 years of service.

Marilyn truly loved music and began playing piano in churches at the age of twelve. She loved singing, and played the piano, accordion and guitar. She was a member of the Bartow County Senior Choir, and played piano for the Golden Tones for 10 years. She also competed in the North Georgia Senior Talent Showcase winning First Place in 2006 and 2007.

Preceding her in death are her late husbands, Jack Stephens (34 years) of Rome, GA and Doyle Minter (19 years) of Acworth, GA, and son in law Michael Kuwamoto of CA.

She is survived by her children, Steven Minter, Rome, GA, Phyllis Minter, Colorado Springs, CO and Rhonda Minter Kuwamoto, San Leandro, CA; two stepdaughters, Allison (Johnny) Bailey and Janice Williams, both of Rome, GA; three granddaughters, Stacy Minter (Jake) Sherwood, Atlanta, GA, Stefanie Minter (Darren) Hicks, Sneads, FL, and Audrey Miklitsch, Colorado Springs, CO; three great- grandchildren, Abigail Hicks, Jerry L. Hicks II, and Elliot Sherwood; her sister, Vonscylle (Howell) Wilson, and her brother Billy Ingram, both of Marietta, GA, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 17th at The Christ Worship Center on Canton Road in Marietta with Bishop Dannie Hix, Brother Sam Allen and The Reverend Dewey Lolley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 – 9 p.m. on Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Mrs. Stephens will be carried to the church on Friday to lie-in-state for two hours prior to the service. A private family interment will take place at Powder Springs Christian Fellowship Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Bailey, Jay Vaughn, John Stinnette, Michael Thornburg, Jimmy Minter and David Miklitsch. Howell Wilson will serve as a honorary pallbearer.
