Marion Crider

July 31, 1933 — October 29, 2009

Mr. Marion Samuel �Sam� Crider, age 76, of Rome, GA died Thursday, October 29, 2009 in a Rome hospital.



Mr. Crider was born in St. Clair County, Alabama on July 31, 1933, the son of the late Lloyd Crider and Nancy Lambert Crider. He retired from Greenwood Mills and served in the United States Army. Mr. Crider loved taking his family on vacation, family gatherings, looking at photo albums, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents Mr. Crider was preceded in death by his half brother and eleven sisters.



Survivors include his wife, Dovie England Crider, to whom he was married on September 13, 1952; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel Marion Crider and Leticia of Rome, Ricky Bryan Crider of Rome, Hank Spratacus Crider of Rome, and Kris Patrick Crider and Gina of Rome; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Maryland Alford and Jack of Centre, AL and Kathy Stephenson and Randy of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Joseph D. Jackson, Jennifer M. J. Jackson, Eddie H. Fleming, Josh S. Crider, Adam L. Crider, C.J. Crider, Brittany S. Weatherbe, Shane Crider, Aaron C. Ownbey, Kaitlin R. Stephenson, Clint S. Crider, Jason A. Hall, and Brandi N. Hall; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister-in-law, Roy D. Crider and Dorothy of Rome; and a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Pierce and Edmond of Anniston, AL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Jackson and Rev. Charlie Carney officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion conducting military graveside rites.



The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.



The grandsons will serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel by 10:30 A.M. on Saturday: Joseph D. Jackson, Eddie H. Fleming, Aaron C. Ownbey, Clint S. Crider, Brandon Tello, and Jason Hall.
