Marjorie Spates

Marjorie B. Spates, 86, of Cassville passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born June 17, 1924 in Marianna, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Hillary Clinton Branning and the late Mattie D. Melvin Branning. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther Spates, Sr.; a son, Clinton Spates; and two brothers, J.V. and R.V. Branning.



Marjorie was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Woodman of the World. She had been employed at Howard Johnson, Davis Brothers, and Ramada Inn before retiring from Wal-Mart in 1987.



Survivors include four sons, Marion Olin Spates of Hickson, TX, Bobby Mayo of Marksville, LA, and Luther Spates, Jr. of Cartersville, GA; four grandchildren, Butch Spates, Ecklyn Salvador, Brandon and Ranee Spates, and Brittany Spates; and five great grandchildren, Shelby Spates, Hannah Hill Spates, Hannah Spates, Tony Salvador, and Nick Salvador.



Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, GA 30120.
