Marjorie Wellman

August 25, 1923 — December 4, 2008

Marjorie Ann Wellman, 85, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born August 25, 1923 in Milton, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur �Don� Harshbarger and the late Eva Maude Kirby Harshbarger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mason Wellman; her son, Don Wellman; her daughter, Sharon Wellman; her brothers, Arthur Harshbarger and Everett Harshbarger; and her sister, Jean Dauk.



Marjorie was blessed with a large family and has 70 descendants. Born into America�s Greatest Generation, she served as a �Rosie the Riveter� in Ohio during World War II. She retired as a machine operator for Piggott Industries in Clinton, Ohio. Marjorie enjoyed quilting in the old, hand-sewn style. One of her quilts was even displayed at the World�s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. Marjorie also received great joy from gathering pecans, shelling them, and giving them away to others.



Survivors include her daughters, Karen LaPorte and Mary Stacey of Cartersville, both of Cartersville; her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Bo) and Georgia Wellman and Leslie and Cindy Wellman, all of Cartersville; her daughter-in-law, Susan Wellman of Akron, Ohio; her brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Nellie Harshbarger of Norris, Tennessee; her sister, Helen Fisher of Chandler, Arizona; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Ronnie Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.



Serving as pallbearers will be David Wellman, Josh Wellman, Keith Nation, Mason Wellman, Jimmy Wellman, and Chris Wellman. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 p.m. on Monday.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Sunday and beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monday until service time at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
