Marshall Crane

August 14, 1931 — May 11, 2009

Rev. Marshall Edward Crane, Jr., 77, of Cartersville departed this life Monday, May 11, 2009 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 14, 1931 in Greensboro, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Marshall Edward Crane, Sr. and the late Emma Louise Parish Crane. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Albert and Cordelia Wright Chitwood, and his brother-in-law, Rev. Jack Chitwood.



Marshall was raised in a Christian home, and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He was later called into the gospel ministry and spent 49 years serving churches in Georgia and Florida. Marshall�s testimony was to show God�s love to everyone and his prayer was that all would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. He graduated from Hugh Morson High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Marshall loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his extended family of nieces and nephews.



Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose Chitwood Crane of Cartersville; his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Dawn Crane of Cartersville, Tim and Jenni Crane of Oneida, Tennessee, and Stephen Crane of Orlando, Florida; his grandchildren, Evan Crane, Taylor Crane, and Emma Grace Crane; his brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Phyllis Crane of Raleigh, North Carolina; his brothers-in-law, Paul and Missy Chitwood and Joel and Melissa Chitwood, all of Winfield, Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.



Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Winfield, Tennessee with Rev. Phil Crane and Mr. Stephen Crane officiating. Burial followed in the Jonathan Chitwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Crane, Tim Crane, Stephen Crane, Jonathan Chitwood, Jeff Chitwood, and Jeremy Chitwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Crane and Evan Crane.



The family received friends from 6 � 8 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Winfield, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 112 E. Church St., Cartersville, GA 30120 or to Southern Care Hospice of Cartersville, 27-A Maple Ridge Dr., Cartersville, GA 30120.



A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville.
