Rydal

Martha Ann Lamar Bunkley, a cherished member of the Rydal, Georgia community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7th, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on a crisp autumn Sunday, October 22nd, 1933 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga, Martha was the embodiment of grace, compassion, and resilience throughout her long and fulfilled life.

Martha was a woman of many passions and talents. An avid gardener and landscaper, she found joy and solace in nurturing the earth, a love she inherited from her conservationist father, Barney Dunbar Lamar. Her artistic spirit shone brightly through her paintings, capturing the beauty of life. Known for her intelligence and great sense of humor, Martha was continually working, learning, and expanding her knowledge, particularly in the healthcare field where she lent her skills generously to those in need.

Her life was a testament to care, support, and love, qualities that she instilled in her family. She is survived by her devoted children: daughters Juliet Madena Bunkley Sheets and husband Troy of Greeley, Colorado, and Martha Jane Bunkley of Marietta; her son Britain Lee Bunkley of Rydal. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Cassidy Bennett Barnhart, Harper Grace Sheets, Hattie Wray Sheets, and James Cooper White, and her cherished great-grandchildren Avery Jane and Alyssa Rose Trevino. Martha is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Gloria Lamar Sperry of Washington DC.

Martha reunites with her dearly departed husband Jack Bunkley; her parents Barney Dunbar Lamar and Moselle Howard Lamar, and her brothers Barney, Howard, George, Calbreath, and Tom Lamar in eternal peace.
