August 16, 1931 — March 19, 2006

Mrs. Martha Jane Dunphy "Nanny", age 74, of 25 Westdale Ave., Rome, passed away on March 19, 2006 at her residence.Mrs. Dunphy was born in Gadsden, Alabama on August 16, 1931, the daughter of the late Howard Eugene Entrekin and Lois McLeskey Entrekin. She worked at Ft. McClellon in Anniston, Alabama as a secretary for several years. Mrs. Dunphy was the owner/operator at Fairyland Daycare for many years but had for the past 19 years worked with the City of Rome Fire Prevention office. Her job with the fire department was a big part of her life and to her it was more than just a job. The people she worked with were her friends and she loved all of them. Mrs. Dunphy was known for her unique sense of humor both at work and at home. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #5 and had good memories of her time there. Mrs. Dunphy loved her family dearly and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Francis Noble Dunphy, III, a brother, Howard Eugene Entrekin, Jr. and a brother in-law, Clyde Roberson.Survivors include two sons and a daughter in-law, William Arthur Bragg, III and James H and Jayne Bragg; one daughter, Kelly Yvonne Hubbard; two sisters and brother in-law, Lois Eugenia Roberson and Barbara Ann and Bob Massey; sister in –law, Faye Entrekin Stowers; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm today (Wednesday) at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Bray officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel today (Wednesday) from 2:00pm until the service hour. At other hours the family will be at her home, 25 Westdale Avenue, Rome.The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Dillmon and to her other doctors and nurses.
