Mrs. Martha Jo Godfrey, 70, of Kingston, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Born December 19, 1942 in Rome, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Gentry and the late Mary Grace Riddle Gentry. Mrs. Godfrey was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she served as coordinator for Samaritan's Purse and was a member of the Women of Faith. She was retired from the Southern Company after 25 years of service. Mrs. Godfrey loved children and loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Gentry.
Survivors include her husband, Carlton R. Godfrey, Sr.; sons, Carlton Godfrey, Jr. and his wife Genise of Cumming, and Kenneth Wayne Godfrey and his wife Kim of Cartersville; daughter, Missy Pruitt and her husband Billy of Taylorsville; brother, Randall Wayne Gentry of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Kayla (Kenneth) Shirley, Trey Pruitt, Gracen Adeline Pruitt, Bradley Godfrey, Alexis Godfrey, Kendra Godfrey, Taylor Godfrey, Brandee Godfrey, and Courtney Godfrey; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Faith Godfrey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Larry D. Foster and Pastor Randall Strickland officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Faith Baptist Church for Missions/Samaritan's Purse, Post Office Box 814, Cartersville, GA 30120 in memory of Mrs. Godfrey.
