Martha Nelson

Martha Dean Nelson, 85, of Cartersville passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.

Born on January 17, 1935 in Atco she was the daughter of the late Lewis Dean Smith and the late Bertha Blanche Lacey Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Frank Nelson; and her son, Ronnie Nelson.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Dusty Nelson, and Nicole Dobbs (Clayton); two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Dot Alverson (Curly), Hugh Lee Smith (Betty), Jackie Hughes, and Patsy Amerson (Joe); her sister-in-law, Betty Nell Ezell; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dorothy Jenkins, Ann Jones, and Terry Kelly.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Dan Willis and Reverend Brent Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Alverson, Scott Alverson, Bobby Smith, Barry Smith, Jason Amerson, Freddy Amerson, and Todd Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Alverson, David Hughes, and Stacey Bowman.
