Martha Tolbert

Mrs. Martha Milam Tolbert, age 84, of Rome, GA, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, in a local nursing home.



Mrs. Tolbert was born in Floyd County, GA on April 29, 1924 the daughter of the late Harper Milam and Gladys Shiflett Milam. She attended West GA College and was a graduate of Carroll Lynn Business School. Mrs. Tolbert retired from Northwest Regional Hospital after twenty seven years of service as a craft instructor. She was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church.



Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ladell and Sylvia Tolbert of Rome and Hoyt and Sherrie Tolbert of Breman, GA; and a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Tom Umerski of Murphy, NC. Also, several grandchildren and cousins survive.



Funeral service will be held today at noon in the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Oaknoll Chapel with Dr. Tony Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends today from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.



Mrs. Tolbert requested no flowers for her funeral service.
