Mr. Marvin Junior (Poke) Stephens, 65, of Cartersville, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Floyd County, April 1, 1946, Mr. Stephens was the son of the late Jack Stephens and the late Rosalee Hill Stephens. Preceding him in death are his parents and one sister, Linda Williams.

Marvin retired from the Bartow County Road Department. He was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He also served as past master of the Adairsville Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of forty years, Elizabeth Faye Stephens of Cartersville; his children, Rick Stephens and Donna Brown and husband, Charlie; his siblings, Joan Hazelwood and husband, Emory, Shirley Tibbets and husband, Tom, Jackie Stephens and wife Sandra, Danny Stephens and Judy Ballew; his grandchildren, Brittany Adams, Jessica Adams and Megan Adams; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Five Forks Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Lee, Rev. Albert Summey and Rev. Phillip Chapman officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Adairsville.

The family received friends from 6 � 9 p.m., Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Nephews served as pallbearers.
