It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Ruth Conner, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Mary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, in Canton, Georgia, at the age of 81.
Mary was born on Monday, August 7th, 1944, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to the late Clarence David and Mervoleen Yother. Raised in a loving family with a strong foundation, Mary grew to be a compassionate and caring individual who touched the lives of those around her.
She was united in marriage to Vernon Conner, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years. Their love story was a testament to devotion and partnership, a beacon to all who knew them. Mary's family was her pride and joy, and she cherished her relationships with her sister Robin Ray, brothers Richard and Rembert Yother, and her numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, David Anderson Conner; and her siblings Ralph, Yother, Raymond Yother, Roger Yother, Roy Yother, Ronald Yother, Rosaline Pirkle and Ruby Bennett.
Mary had a zest for life, enjoying a range of interests. She was an avid TV watcher and enjoyed traveling, finding solace in the serene beauty of the mountains, her favorite retreat. Her love for cats was well-known, and her cherished companions, Oreo, Baby-O, and Molly, brought her immense joy and comfort.
Mary's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at Crossroads Baptist Church in Dallas, GA, on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the church's cemetery. Prior to the service, family and friends are welcome to pay their respects during a visitation at the church from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Arrangements have been provided by Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Mary's indomitable spirit, kindness, and love for her family and friends will be dearly missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
May she rest in peace and continue to watch over us from the mountains she so dearly loved.
