Mary Louise Stephens Dial went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday November 25 ,
2022 with her family by her side.
Born September 9, 1937 in Waycross, Georgia, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late
Dave W. Stephens and the late Lula Mae Stephens. Mary Lou married Jack George
Dial in Waycross on August 9,1953. Jack was called to preach in Waycross at age 19
and Mary Lou began a life as a devoted pastor's wife and helped Jack spread God's
word as a pastor and evangelist for the next 50 years in Georgia and Texas. She was
instrumental in the life of so many people as she faithfully served the Lord during her
life. Meme, as she was known to all her family, was a loving wife, daughter, sister,
mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her entire family. MeMe loved to play
games and was known as quite the character to her family and her many friends. She
loved to laugh and tell stories and her wit was sharp and humorous her entire life.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Jack, her father Dave
Stephens, mother Lula Mae Stephens, her beloved big sister Betty Sue Harris and her
grandson Scott Hankins.
Survivors include her children, Marla Lee of Wichita Falls, TX, David (Susan) Dial of
Marietta, GA, Carrie Dial of Cartersville, Ga and Phillip (Elizabeth) Dial of Calhoun, GA;
grandchildren, Ashley Hankins, Clint Mathis, Brandon (Chelsea) Dial, Hayley (Ali) Mirza,
Jad (Katie) Dial, Cole (Victoria) Dial, Matt McCurley and Jess (Eyal) Bergman. Mary Lou
loved her extended family which included survivors: Brother-in-law Tommy (Janice)
Dial, sister-in-law Nan (Milton) Hanbury. Special Niece and Nephew Amy Bell and
Justin (Kristen) Dial and Jay Lee. Mary was blessed with 16 beautiful great grandkids
and many loved nieces and nephews.
A graveside Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date at Kettle Creek
Cemetery in Waycross, Ga where Mary Lou will be laid to rest alongside the love of her
life, Jack!!
The family would like to thank the many staff members of Townsend Park Nursing
Home for their care of our Meme the last couple of years.
