Mary Higgins

Mrs. Mary Burnes Higgins, age 78, of Rome died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at a healthcare facility.

Mrs. Higgins was born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Herman Burnes and Agnes Hirsch Burnes. She had lived all of her life in Rome and attended the Rome School System. Mrs. Higgins was a Christian. She was the owner-operator of Higgins Printing Company for 8 years. Mrs. Higgins was a loving mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included, gardening and working with flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Higgins in April 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Grover (Elizabeth) Higgins, Jr. of Woodstock and Mike Higgins of Rome; one daughter Robyn (Greg) Teems of Rockmart; two brothers, Herman M.(Patsy) Burnes and Albert H. (Shirley) Burnes all of Rome; ten grandchildren; Elizabeth Anne Higgins, Atlanta, GA, Leah Townsend, Winston Salem, NC, Daniel Higgins, Woodstock, GA, Taylor Teems and Connor Teems of Rockmart, GA, Aly Higgins, Summerville, GA, Cain Higgins, Gaylesville, Ala, Lauren Higgins, Summerville, GA, Dustin Higgins, Rome, GA and Kelli Higgins, Rome, GA ; three great-grandchildren, Ellison Townsend, Winston Salem, NC, Jaden Higgins, Atlanta, GA and Hannah Williamson, Rome, GA.

Graveside and interment services will be held Saturday at 3:00 pm at the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Minister Bill Brinkey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home Saturday from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
