Mary Jenkins

Mary Kathleen Jenkins, 69, of Cartersville died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Heartland Hospice House. A native of Bartow County, Mrs. Jenkins was born May 16, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Aden Smyrna Whitley and the late Pearl Turner Whitley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loy Ray Jenkins; and her brother, Morris Whitley.



Kathleen was a member of Atco Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to yard sales, and collecting salt and pepper shakers. Kathleen said she always had room for one more salt and pepper shaker. Her family considered her the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in the world.



She is survived by her children and their spouses, Patsy and Dave Ledbetter of Cartersville, Boyd and Ruth Jenkins of Calhoun, Randy Jenkins and Dewayne Jenkins, both of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Carrie Overby, Jonathan Jenkins, Deanna Hyde, and Lisa Jenkins; her great-grandchildren, Kyle Turner, Jordan Overby and Kaitlyn Overby; and her sister, Barbara DeBoard of Cartersville.



Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Jason Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.



Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Nunley, Randy Bray, Dave Ledbetter, Roy Overby, Thomas Mayfield, and Brandon Bray. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday at 2:15 p.m.



The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
