Mary Frances Meadows

November 4, 1943 — November 28, 2025

Cartersville

Mary Frances Simpson Meadows, 82 of Cartersville was born on November 4, 1943 to William and Emma Simpson. She lived her entire life in Bartow County and graduated from Cass High School in 1961. She met James C. Meadows and they were united in marriage on April 27, 1962. Together they had two children, Debbie and Jamie. She worked for Cartersville Coca Cola, Blossman Gas and Sutton Industrial Services Inc.

Mrs. Meadows considered the most important date in her life to be that of her acceptance of Jesus as her Savior when she was 10 years of age and on November 28, 2025 when she went to be with him. After the death of her son Jamie on December 7, 1997, she, along with Catherine Edwards, Margie Norton, and Wanda Fowler, founded Parents Grief Support Group. Her goal was to help other parents who were grieving the loss of a child.

Mrs. Meadows always gave of herself in life. Because her son, Jamie, gave The Gift of Life, she was blessed with many special family members: Jim Joiner and mother Virginia of Titusville, Florida, George and Sadie Veillon, children and grandchildren of Alexandria, Louisiana and Jay Taylor of Glendale, California. Her love of life, family and friends was never ending. Today she is in Heaven with her son, family members and special friend, Virginia Shepherd.

Mrs. Meadows is preceded in death by her son, James C. Meadows II (Jamie); parents William and Emma Simpson; and her brothers Billy and Cheyenne Simpson; and brothers-in-law Doyle Whitfield and John Hale. She is survived by her husband, James Meadows; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Terry Thacker; two loving grandsons that added much joy to her life, Alex and Gauge Thacker; sisters and brother-in-law Daisy Whitfield, Joyce Hale, and Rosebud and Donald Ray; brothers and sisters-in-law Andy and Barbara Simpson, Cheryl Simpson, and Bruce and Martha Simpson – all of Cartersville; a special nephew Anthony Fender; two great nephews who always called her Memaw, Seth and Chase Hall; and many other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Phillips officiating and Kenneth Stepp providing music. She will be laid to rest beside her son, Jamie, at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Thacker, Terry Thacker, Chase Hall, Seth Hall, William Whitfield, David Hale, Ernie Meadows, and Cody Copeland.
