Mrs. Mary Hartzog Riggins, age 90, of 2 Russell Field Road, Rome, GA, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005, in Texas.Mrs. Riggins was born in Jackson County, FL, on August 1, 1915, the daughter of the late C.P. Hartzog and Docia Franklin Hartzog. She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church and a member of the Bessie Myrick Sunday School Class. Mrs. Riggins was a housewife and homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the eastern Star. Mrs. Riggins was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry Riggins, to whom she was married on December 6, 1931. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Vessie Hartzog.Mrs. Riggins is survived by a son, Wayne H. "Bill" Riggins of Rome, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jim Kelly of EL Lago, TX; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mavis Touchstone of Silver Creek, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. Riggins will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Studdard and Rev. Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Memory Gardens.Mrs. Riggins will lay in-state in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Saturday) evening from 6 until 9 p.m.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday by 1:30 p.m. and include Bobby Youngblood, Arvin Holsomback, Alvin Hardin and Gene Norris, Cliff Fuqua, and James Cordle. The Bessie Myrick Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
