Mrs. Mary Ruth Turner, 79, of Cartersville went home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Piedmont Cartersville Hospital.
Born January 16, 1944, in Gilmer County, she was the daughter of the late Paulie Godfrey and Ethel Templeton.
Mary was of the Baptist faith and attended Millers Chapel Full Gospel Church in White. She was employed at Shaw Industries for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Harley Turner; her children, Laura Jo and Paul James; stepdaughter, Tammy McEntyre; her brothers, Austin Godfrey and Ronny Godfrey; and her sisters, Virginia Godfrey and Barbara Godfrey.
Survivors include Henry (Spanky) and Dale Godfrey; Douglas James; Donald and the late Jennifer James; Paul and Carla Turner; Tonya Collum; sister, Imogene Long and Terry Collum; special best friend and sister-in-law, Jo Ann Godfrey; brother, Harvey and Janet Templeton; and sister-in-law, Lillie Godfrey. Mary Ruth leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Josh James officiating. There will not be a graveside service at Zion Hill Cemetery, but all friends and family are welcome to attend the interment. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the funeral home.
