Mary Lou Williams Schroeder, a cherished resident of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away at the age of 98 on Friday, August 28th, 2026. Born on Thursday, November 24th, 1927, Mary Lou was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the hearts of many throughout her long and meaningful life.

Mary Lou is survived by her devoted son, John Herman Schroeder Sr., four grandsons, one granddaughter, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends who cherished her kindness and compassion. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence Schroeder; her parents Tommy Williams and Betty; her beloved daughter Merelle Lewis; grandchildren John Herman Schroeder Jr. and Kimberly Schroeder; her nephew Herman Smith; her sister Jeanette Smith, and her brother Ray Williams.

Throughout her life, Mary Lou exemplified warmth, resilience, and dedication. She worked for many years as a secretary at 20th Century Glove, where her work ethic and steadfast nature were admired. Beyond her professional life, Mary Lou's heart was deeply entwined with her community and faith. A devoted member of The Church at Liberty Square, she found purpose in contributing to the "Joy Writers" program, where she communicated hope and compassion through letters to prisoners.

Mary Lou will be remembered not only for her profound love for her family but also for her unwavering dedication and service to her community. Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and selflessness—qualities she graciously bestowed upon everyone she met.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary Lou's life during a funeral service, which will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Following the funeral, Mary Lou will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens.
