Mattie Spencer

Mattie Frances Tant Spencer, 89, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Heartland Hospice House. Born in Bartow County on September 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Tidwell and the late Mattie Garrett Tidwell.



Before retiring she was the co-owner and operator of Tant�s Fruit Stand. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, J.C. Tant; her second husband, Gordon Spencer; her sons, Charles Tant and Dilmous Tant; her granddaughter, Stephanie Tant; her great-grandson, J. C. Tant; her brothers, Bartow Tidwell, Buford Tidwell, Charlie Tidwell, Otis Tidwell, Jack Tidwell, and Willis Tidwell; her sisters, Clementine Warren, Myrtle Tidwell, and Susie Mae Tidwell.



Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Geraldine Tant, Randall and Lillie Tant, Alvin and Stephanie Tant, and Donald Tant; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Ovlie Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Drew Brown and Rev. James Kiser officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.



Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffery Tant, Kenneth Tant, Billy Joe Tant, Jr., Harold Tidwell, Terry Tidwell, and Leon Tant. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday.



The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
