Maude Boyd

Maude Vaughn Boyd, 93, of Cartersville passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at Starcrest of Cartersville. Born June 12, 1915 in Fitzgerald, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Smith and the late Otella Bernice Hunt Smith. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Wilburn Odis Vaughn; her second husband, Richard Lee Boyd; a son-in-law; and several brothers and sisters.



After the death of her first husband in 1957, Maude moved to Brunswick in 1959 where she lived for almost 40 years. She was a homemaker and a seamstress, and she was a member of Blythe Baptist Church. Maude moved to Cartersville in 1996 and had been involved with Senior Friends.



Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Mary Alice Sutton of Brunswick and Carol and Rudy Haase of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Melinda Brighenti of Canton, Holly Sanders of Birmingham, Alabama, Michelle Thompson of Acworth, Donna Fletcher of Brunswick, and Ray Sutton of Huntsville, Alabama; her great-grandchildren, Leighton Thompson, Griffin Thompson, and Ashlee Sanders; her sister, Willie Jo Black of Hawkinsville; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 in the chapel of The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald with Rev. Jullian Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour before the service.
