Mr. Maurice Delevie, age 65, of North Avery Road, Rome died on Monday, April 3, 2006 at a local hospital.Mr. Delevie was born in Piedmont, Alabama on January 8, 1941, the son of Marlene Day Delevie and the late Morris Delevie. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Floyd Junior College and had worked with Floyd Medical Center and Redmond Regional Medical Center as a Registered Nurse. Mr.Delevie was presently employed by Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital as a Charge Nurse. Among his community involvement , he helped with the Coosa High School Band from 1993 -1997 and worked as Santa Claus from 1996-1999. He loved country music and loved playing with his grandsons. Mr. Delevie also served in the United States Marine Corp. Preceding him in death were his father and two brothers, David and Michael Delevie.Survivors include his wife, Carolyn "Jeannie" Hardin Delevie to whom he was married March 12, 1977; a daughter, Niki Delevie of Rome; mother, Marlene Day Delevie of Centre, AL; brothers, Bill and Donald Delevie of Alabama; grandsons, Pike and Jacoby Delevie of Rome; nieces, Lindsay Hardin, Holly Hardin and Cam Delevie; two brothers and sisters in-law, Steve and Diane Hardin and Jim and Edna Hardin; nephews, Tracy, Ashley, Michael, Steven, Chris, Russ and Matt Delevie. Several aunts and cousins of Gadsden, Al also survives.Funeral services will be held at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home on Friday at 4:30 pm with Rev. Norman Money and Bobby Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery.The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 until 9:00 pm.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 4:00 pm Friday and include, Corey Dillard, Robert Early, Larry Dorsey, Tim Roberson, Steven Henderson and Rick Byars.
