Maurice Hines

Mr. Maurice Scott Hines was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on April 16, 1962. He passed away February 7, 2010.



He is survived by his wife, Lisa Chaves Hines; three children, Maurice Scott Hines, Jr., Joshua Kyle Hines, and Sharon Virginia Hines; parents, Tommy and Gingie Hines of Newberry, FL; and two brothers, Tommy Hines, Jr. of Woodbury, KY, and Wade Hines of Hancock, MA.



Scott graduated from Newberry High School in 1980. He graduated from Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL in 1981, Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota in 1984, and Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina in 1993. He played football in high school, Marion Military Institute and Minot State. At Clemson he served as strength and conditioning coach from 1991-1993. He also served as Head Strength Coach at Newberry College in Newberry, SC.



In 1994, Scott and his family moved to Rome, GA. He was on the coaching staff at Rome High School from 1994- 2000, and was Head Strength and Conditioning Coach fro the Rome Renegades from 2004-2006. Since 2000 he has been owner of Pro Performance, Personal and Sports Performance Training. He was formerly State Director for the National Strength and Conditioning Association in both South Carolina and Georgia. He also did strength training for the U.S. Army Rangers. Scott was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rome, GA and was a devoted father and husband. He embraced strong Christian values, lived life to the fullest and adopted the philosophy �No Excuses!�



A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. in the Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Andrews officiating. Mr. Hines will lie-in-state from 9:30 A.M. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Calvary Baptist Church.



In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children�s Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:00 A.M.: Tim Vicchrilli, Mike Sarver, Phillip Gaines, Brian Erb, David Humphries, and Kevin Hunt. The honorary pallbearers will be Tony Amos, Brad Clark, Damian Panajia, and Nick Barringer.
