Megan Massey

June 24, 1988 — October 3, 2004

Megan Massey age 16, of 23 Charleston Dr. Rome, Georgia was called up to play on God's "All-Star Team", Sunday October 3, 2004. A beautiful warm sunny day very similar to the Friday she was delivered to us to cherish and guide. Always knowing that God only loaned her to us.Megan was born in Floyd County on June 24, 1988. The daughter of Wayne and Macie Massey. Her grandparents: Jerry Massey, Bryan & Gerettie Patterson and Ron & Dee Gunter. Then, Aunt Beth & cousins Logan & Savannah!! Also Uncle Jay Massey and MaryAnn Westmoreland is her Godmother, "Aunt Vickie & Patrick Patterson next door with "cousins" A.P.&Cory", and Great Grandma Gunter! Officially that covers the blood line, but Massey's say: "friends are the FAMILY we chose for ourselves!"...Thanks to all of you! The countless 'siblings', aunts, uncles, Moms & Dad's who loved her and helped guide her be who she was. Megan was The Greatest Daughter anyone could want. She represented her Father and I well...she musta really wowed God! Megan was sure of just about EVERYTHING in her life. She was Baptized at age 9 at Lakeview Baptist Church. Although in her teenage years she was not attending regularly there, she did visit nearly every church and denomination known!! She was very aware of God. She was proud that she could speak for herself. When she signed her Ga Driver's License and choose to be an organ donor she was prepared then to do God's will. Megan knew God would take her home and that she did not need her empty lifeless body. She understood that it would cost her nothing, yet help numerous others. PLEASE CONSIDER ORGAN DONATION! It saves lives....really. Just sign your license and celebrate life! Megan was certainly a SPIRITED girl(a firecracker). Megan was a great athlete and competitor. She loved being a member of the varsity cheerleading squad for Coosa High School and was selected for the 2nd time as a UCA All Star cheerleader, always "flippin"! she liked tumbling to keep in shape...very physical, and it helped with the condition of her game....softball! She grew up on a field and She has ALWAYS loved ball. She was capable of learning any physical task. Atheletics began early. When she was five she was 1 of 2 girls on her YMCA boys t-ball team. Brittany Dulaney..i believe, was the other girl. Brittany has, over the last 11 years been one of our competitors as a Lady Tiger @ Dar. SOO Many AWESOME young ladies from every school far and near have been both TEAMMATES and rivals: yet always friends!Megan was 'of course!' Coosa's short-stop and she LOVED every second. Especially the closeness to Coach Agan, who told her "not to be PATHETIC"...go coach!! Thanks for ALWAYS setting your expectations of her so high!! Sorry to Coach Cummings<~~someone had to take the crap after Agan challenged her!!{ you were a shining star,THANK YOU!}A Memorial Service to celebrate Megan's life was held at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 1:00p.m. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service until 7:00p.m. that evening.Flowers will be accepted or donations may be given to the Megan Massey Scholarship Fund at Unity Bank, 42 Three Rivers Rd, Rome Georgia.
