Melba Summerville

Mrs. Melba Julia Haynes Summerville, age 82, of 48 Highland Street NE, Rome, GA, died Thursday, November 2, 2006, in a local hospital.Mrs. Summerville was born in Cullman, AL, on July 20, 1924, the daughter of the late Eddie Low and Eunice Vinson Haynes. She attended Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of North Rome Church of God. Mrs. Summerville was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing. She loved Jesus and was a devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Summerville is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Seaborn Summerville, Sr. on October 22, 2005; four sisters, Aline Evans, Wynelle Roberson, Maybelle Bentley, and Doris Smith; and a daughter-in-law, Ann Summerville.Mrs. Summerville is survived by two sons, Joe Summerville, Jr. and his fiancé, Tammy Crane both of Rome and William "Terry" and his wife, Margaret Summerville of Rome; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Ed Mitchell of Silver Creek, GA, and Sherry and Robert Mitchell of Rome; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruth Puleo of Cullman, AL, Faye Handley and her husband, Bill of Flint, MI; and Marie Harbin and her husband, Thomas of Anniston, AL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Paul T. Stover and Pastor Jackie Culberson officiating.
