Melissa Slocum

Mrs. Melissa Suzanne Slocum, age 37, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Cartersville Medical Center. A native of Bartow County, born August 7, 1978, she was the daughter of James Adcock, Jr. and Becky Dobbins Adcock.

Melissa was a homemaker and had a heart of gold. She was a sweet and kind person and enjoyed helping others. She also loved her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband, Willie Junior Slocum of Cartersville; her parents, James and Becky Adcock of Pine Log; her siblings, Amanda and Curtis Banks of Cartersville, Jennifer Chappell of Emerson, Jamey and Heather Adcock and Jimmy and Dawn Adcock both of Cartersville; along with her best friend, Melissa Tate of Murphy Estates, South Carolina.

Melissa will lie in state Sunday July 3 from 2-3 p.m. at Crane Eater Community Church in Calhoun. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Howard Strickland and The Reverend Mike Dobbins officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Log United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m.

Curtis Banks, Donald Garland, Michael Gray, Gene Barnett, David Turner, David Smith, Andrew Thurman and Danny Korb will serve as pallbearers.
